Diktio Alpha
Center for addiction prevention and promotion of psychosocial health in Western Thessaloniki
The Prevention Center "Diktio Alpha" is a civil nonprofit organization, founded in March 2001. It is one of the 72 Prevention Centers operating currently in Greece. "Diktio Alpha" is intended to act against the use of illegal substances as well as other substances such as alcohol or tobacco, to reduce risk factors for the development of potentially dependent behaviors and to promote psychosocial health among the residents of Western Thessaloniki. The programs and actions undertaken by "Diktio Alpha" are consistent with the National Action Plan for Drugs. The Prevention Center is scientifically supervised by OKANA (the National Organization against Drugs) and it is co-funded by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interiors. Action area includes the six Municipalities of West Thessaloniki: Ampelokipi-Menemeni, Kordelio-Evosmos, Pavlos Melas, Oreokastro, Delta and Chalkidona. "Diktio Alpha" is addressed to more than 400.000 local residents. Its services are free of charge.
